For the lack of a better word it is just ridiculous. with all of the games that are available for your wii console it would literally cost you a small fortune. The worst part is that small fortune would only get you a fraction of the wii titles that are available. Guess what Nintendo? My pockets are not some bottomless money pit that you can drain empty. Its my money! Hands off!
Convenience - This is an easy one. Is it easier to sit in front of your computer and download the game you want or jump in your car and go buy it? Thats a rhetorical question and does not require and answer. I would much rather sit in my comfortable computer chair than to fight my way through traffic and stand in long lines.
Trial and error - If you buy a game and don't like it you are pretty much stuck with it. If you download wii games and don't like them you can simply delete them from your hard drive and move to the next game. You might think that you can just return the store bought games. Have you tried to return anything lately? Stores now require 56 forms of ID, DNA, and a drug test in order to return anything. So I exaggerated a little bit, but I think you get the point.
You cant break a download - The disks that wii games are on are extremely fragile and can be considered nothing more than junk with even a little scratch. Nothing makes me more mad than putting a game in and getting some kind of disk error. A download is impossible to scratch unless your my six year old because he can scratch or break anything.
A download has great customer service - Have you been to a retail store to try and buy a game recently? If you are lucky enough to find the game you want you have to get someone to unlock a case. Most of the time by the time the 16 year old employee gets done talking on his cell phone to get my game I am steaming. I do not want to hear his conversation about the rash that hes developing or the party on Friday night. I just want my game, why is that so hard to understand? A download does not have a social life and will get me my game whenever I click my mouse.
In an attempt to find good sources I spent almost 6 hours of my life researching on the internet. I encountered some good and some very bad options to download wii games. when I say bad I'm talking about Michael Jackson in a day care center bad. Let me tell you about a couple of them.
Torrents are officially horrible - It used to be that you could download just about anything that you wanted from a torrent site. Torrents sites are now the hang out spot for a bunch of pimple faced computer nerds whose main goal in life is to infect as many computers as possible with the net version of herpes. Trust me when I tell you that some of these viruses that they pass around now are almost impossible to get rid of.
Monthly membership sites are the drunk uncle - These sites are outcasts. They do offer a good resource but they are simply not affordable. People try to find a way to download wii games so that they are not constantly making their wallets scream in agony. These are the types of sites that should be kept a secret. The kind of secret that you should never tell anyone about. Just like your drunk uncle.
Google is not your savior - As good as google is sometimes its just not good enough. I tried to just search for game titles in google and did get some results. I downloaded the file and opened it up only to find that it was a south park scene of Cartman telling tom cruise to come out of the closet. Im not going to lie, I did get a good chuckle out of it but in the end was irritated because it was not the game that I was looking for.
I did however, find a couple of sites that I have dubbed "mega sites" these sites allowed me to download an unlimited amount of wii games and all I had to do was sign up for a membership. I was surprised to find that they also provided movies that I was able to download and watch on my wii as well. Once I got my membership confirmation in my email I signed into the site and was provided with complete instructions and software which allowed me to download wii games as much as I wanted to.
